The annual Australia Day Aquathon will be held at Wolllongong Harbour. All nippers members are encouraged to compete and our club members can obtain a $5 discount on entry fees if they pay at the office by Sunday the 22nd January. The club will be open for a BYO bbq from 5pm and families are welcome to come and view the fireworks from the deck. Come and celebrate with us!

Wave Warriors 2012 will be held over three days from January 18th. Entry forms and event schedule are on the Wave Warriors website. Enter early and avoid the late fee. Events are designed for maximum participation for all range of abilities. Unlike other carnivals, participants can attempt all sand and water disciplines. Come and meet your favourite stars the current Nutri-Grain Iron Man Series. It's a great family event so we hope to see you there.

It's that time of the year again. Join us for the surf club Christmas get together at the Brewery on Wednesday the 14th December. The cost is $20 a head and will include some food and a few drinks. If you'd like to come, you can pay David Meredith, Matt Sweeney or the office by Monday the 12th. If you don't get a chance to pay in advance, you can do so on the night. Hope to see you all there!

The Member Services team is excited to announce the Surf Life Saving NSW development opportunities for the 2011/12 season. If you are a member who is interested in these programs, be one of the first to prepare your nomination and present it to your club and branch by the due dates.

Junior Lifesaver of the Year Development Camp

17-20 April 2012 – The Collaroy Centre, Sydney

This Camp is for U/13-14 members who are the branch winners of the Junior Lifesaver of the Year Award. The focus of this camp is a combination of fun and learning through experience. Participants will be involved in physical challenges, information sharing through presentations and discussions, activities and scenario’s which require leadership, teamwork and communication.
This circular will be released in September 2011, and nominations will close with SLSNSW on Monday 5th March 2012.

Youth Opportunity Makers Workshop

17-20 April 2012 – The Collaroy Centre, Sydney

Outstanding members who are 15-17 years of age are invited to join us at this workshop. Participants will be involved in activities that broaden their understanding of the operations of branches and surf life saving as a whole. Leadership skills will be developed through physical exercises and activities, with the weekend also calling (and building!) upon teamwork, communication, negotiation and planning skills. Get ready for this jam-packed program.
